Maggie Kirby and Sarah Casey

We've raised $2300...help us reach $3000!

Welcome!

On November 7th, 2009 we (Maggie Kirby and Sarah Casey) will be running 26.2 miles in support of ISU Wesley, our community of faith. Have a look around, read what we're all about, and if you're feeling up to it...TAKE THE CHALLENGE by making a donation to our cause!

26.2 Challenge

ISU Wesley is a campus ministry at Illinois State University offering students a place to belong to a community of faith, believe, and become the people God is calling each of us to become. ISU Wesley is experiencing monumental growth, reaching more students than ever before. This ministry is playing a direct role in the future of our church, empowering and enabling young adults by providing them with the opportunities for leadership to experience God’s call. Our church needs these young people more than ever.

As two women who have been influenced by this ministry and through which have both experienced God’s call on our lives, we are extremely passionate about supporting this ministry through prayer and service.

On November 7th, we will be running 26.2 miles in support of ISU Wesley and all those who have been affected by this ministry. This community goes beyond the young adults who are involved, but has touched the lives of hundreds of people in all parts of the world through prayer and missions.

We are presenting you with what we like to call the 26.2 Challenge! We are asking you to support us by making a financial donation to ISU Wesley in honor of our participation in the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. It is our goal to raise $4000 for our ministry by asking you to donate $26.20 to our cause. We need 160 people to donate in order to reach our goal.

We ask that you prayerfully consider making a donation!
We understand that you may not be able to donate $26.20, but any amount makes a difference and will be greatly appreciated! You can also (and most importantly) support us through your prayers as we train for the race, and as our ministry continues to grow.

11/6/2009 - 24 hours til RACE DAY

We've enjoyed two glorious weeks of tapering, and now the hour is upon us. Maggie started clinicals for student teaching this week and I, Sarah, have been working fervently on my senior thesis. Despite our busy schedules, fundraising seems to have been at the forefront of our thoughts these past few weeks. We are blown away by the support of our friends and family. Yet, being the overachieving hardworking women that we are, we want more.

I've been extremely anxious this entire week; ready to go out there and get it over with. This morning when I woke up, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. All of a sudden I felt so foolish. I had lost perspective. Even through all of the fundraising, I had forgotten what this race is really about. We are not doing this to say we ran a marathon. We are not doing this for ourselves or even for our own physical fitness and health. We are doing this for our family of faith. We are doing this for our people. We are involved in something much bigger than ourselves, something that is too overwhelming for me to even begin to comprehend. God has enabled us. We are ready to race.

What an awesome God we serve!

10/25/2009 - 12 miles

We know what you're thinking, at this point in our training 12 miles should be a piece of cake! For some reason, we literally had to drag ourselves out of bed and force ourselves to hit the trail. It was rainy and the sky was gray. We didn't talk much, just went out there and got it done. We finished and by the time evening rolled around found ourselves exhausted! We're looking forward to tapering and short runs until race day. We're still short of our goal and hoping to continue to receive donations through November 7th. Prayers are greatly appreciated!

10/19/2009 - 20 miles!

We have been so blessed with beautiful weather on our long runs. It was an awesome Monday and we set aside the entire afternoon for our big 20 mile run! We would be lying if we said it was fun...it was hard and tough and by mile 18 our knees were sore and our bodies were aching...but we finished! It was a good feeling. We are a little nervous about adding another 6 miles on race day, but trust that our training and hard work will have paid off. That being said, we'd still appreciate your prayers. If you haven't yet, TAKE THE CHALLENGE!

10/4/2009 - 18 miles!

It was the perfect day for a run. After spending an amazing weekend on Fall Retreat with ISU Wesley, we hit the Constitution Trail at 2pm and 3 hours later we were 18 miles closer to our goal. We topped off the evening with a delicious Sunday Supper at the church, where our friends greeted us with cheers and congratulations! We have awesome friends.

Prayers

The #1 way you can support us is through your love and prayers! Prayers for our growing ministry, prayers for our leadership team, prayers for the young adults of our community, prayers for our training, and prayers for our fundraising. We cannot begin to express the impact and influence your prayers have on our lives. We are so thankful for your support.
